Hypnotherapy is very effective in helping you to be in an optimal mind set for birth. If you approach birth feeling calm, positive, in control and prepared, you will produce all the right chemicals to support a positive labour by working with the natural rhythms of your body.
In this way you are less likely to need interventions. However, if you do decide to have interventions, you can make this decision as an informed choice with intellect, rather than panicking. Whatever birthing plan you have decided upon, hypnotherapy will give you the confidence to know that you can cope beautifully and remain in control.
Pain can feel more acute if we feel anxious, exhausted or frightened, hypnotherapy helps you avoid that fear and anxiety. It can also help you sleep better during your pregnancy so that you are as rested and energised as you can possibly be for labour.
During our sessions you will learn about:
´ the brain and how to keep anxiety and stress low.
´ the role of positivity and the resultant chemical response (and the flip side of that)
´ about the physiology & neurology of pain
´ self hypnosis to practise at home
´ how your birth partner can support you with hypnosis
´ the benefits of hypnotherapy to you, your baby and your birthing partner
I will also give you 2 CD's and use hypnosis in every session, so that you feel used to it and are therefore confident about using it during birth.
The focus is on a positive, relaxing and empowering birth. We usually recommend a minimum of 4 sessions to cover this, you can begin at any point in your pregnancy and finish near to your delivery date.
