Why I need your data
I collect and process your information to enable me to provide therapy sessions tailored to your individual needs, goals, and desired outcomes.
Your contact details, including your telephone number and address, are collected so that I can contact you regarding your appointments, changes to arrangements, or other matters relating to your therapy.
In circumstances where you inform me outside of a therapy session that you are at immediate risk of harm to yourself or others, I may use the information you have provided to contact appropriate emergency services or relevant professionals where necessary to safeguard your wellbeing or the wellbeing of others.
I will only collect personal data that is necessary for me to provide and manage your therapy service.
What I do with your data
All information you provide will be treated as confidential between you and your therapist.
As part of maintaining professional standards and ensuring the quality of the service I provide, I may discuss anonymised aspects of your case within professional supervision with another qualified therapist or supervisor. Any discussion will maintain confidentiality and complete anonymity.
I will not share your personal data with any other person or organisation without your explicit consent, unless I am legally required to do so or where there is a serious and immediate risk of harm requiring appropriate action.
How long I keep your data
I retain client records in accordance with the requirements of my professional governing association and applicable legal obligations.
For adult clients, records are retained for 8 years following the completion of therapy.
For clients under the age of 18, records are retained until the client reaches 25 or 26 years of age.
Records retained may include information regarding why you sought therapy, a brief summary of information shared during sessions, and notes made as part of the therapeutic process.
Your rights
You have the right to request access to the personal information I hold about you and to ask for corrections if any information is inaccurate.
You may also request restriction or deletion of your personal data where appropriate. However, there may be circumstances where I am required to retain certain information due to professional, legal, or regulatory obligations.
