Fear is one of our most useful survival mechanisms. It is what lets us know that we need to take action in certain situations.
However, when fear starts to become out of proportion to the object or situation that elicits fear, then it has started to transform into a phobia. A phobia can be a learned behaviour or it can result from an experience.
Phobias and trauma can really limit and negatively affect our lives, and in some cases cause panic attacks. This can be extremely distressing and further exacerbate and entrench the phobia.
One of the most common phobias I deal with at the moment is emetophobia, whether it's that or dogs, needles, heights, public speaking or anything else, allow me to help you turn down your responses to something far more manageable and far less disruptive.
The therapy will vary depending on the cause of your phobia or trauma and the severity of it, but whichever path we follow there will be no traumatic or detailed explanations needed of how this came about and I can usually help you move forward in 3 or 4 sessions.
"Closure without Disclosure"
I also trained with the IARTT (the International Association for Rewind Trauma Therapy) and am qualified to deliver the Rewind Technique, also known as "closure without disclosure".
"Thank you so much for all of your help over the sessions, you've literally changed my life!"
(Hypnotherapy for severe spider phobia)
"Tracey helped me with a phobia of public speaking that I’d been struggling with since my teens (I’m now in my 40s). It was limiting my career and really affecting my confidence. We worked on reducing stress and then specifically on the phobia itself, unwinding and erasing my unhealthy and incorrect brain patterns I’d been following for years and then reset them. I went from being a jelly-legged, sweaty mess, reading from a script, to delivering a talk on stage and without notes within weeks of working with Tracey. It has changed my life. Can’t thank you enough Tracey - you’re wonderful!"
