As with anxiety, it’s perfectly normal to feel stressed from time to time.
In some situations, it can even be useful and beneficial; for example nerves before a big exam or performance can help your body release the stress hormones which help you to focus. Or in other situations where perhaps there is physical danger, we need to feel stress as this helps our protective instincts kick in.
However, when this starts to be the norm, long term or chronic, rather than appropriate to specific situations then you may feel that it's time to seek help to reduce your stress levels and as a result improve your mental and physical health.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can help you learn to respond in more constructive ways to your stress triggers by bringing about a different, more useful perspective. This helps you to feel more in control and better able to cope with life's stressses.
In our Initial Consultation, I will give you an understanding of how our brains work and why we think and behave as we do. It’s incredibly powerful to have this understanding and enables you to make the first step towards change and help break the vicious cycle of negative thoughts, feelings and behaviours that help keep chronic stress alive.
In subsequent sessions using a combination of "talking therapy" techniques and hypnosis, I will help you to move further out of this negative mind-set and bring back a more balanced perspective on life. This will also help you feel calmer and more in control. We will focus on how you want to feel (and not how you don't) and identify the steps needed to get you there, all of which will be personal and appropriate to you. We will also focus on self management tools to help you maintain your stress levels in the long term.
The deep relaxation experienced during hypnosis aids the process considerably by reducing tension and providing mental capacity to cope with the stressors you are facing.

Thank you for visiting! Please note that I am now practicing in Stockbridge, having moved from my previous clinic in Chandlers Ford. Google is still showing the old address, but I hope that this will be corrected very soon.
